Musical Interlude

This week we are featuring a sweet track off of the brand new album, Better by Stars Go Dim. The song is called "It's Gonna Get Better" and I have been inspired by its uplifting message and impressive production quality. Check out the full music video here.

FAKE NEWS from The Babylon Bee

This week's fake new article employs the wonderful tool of absurdity to illustrate the insanity of the backlash against Georgia's recent ban on abortions when a fetal heartbeat can be detected.

we have a rest recovery ministry called deliverance, outreach and recovery. Um, we run it on Thursday night and the whole basic idea is to reach out to drug addicts and people with, you know, substance abuse problems or alcoholism, life controlling issues. And um, we just basically just preach the gospel out of them.
Speaker 3:

On this episode of the blast podcast, Pastor Adam dragon and Mr. David smell are blasting across the interweb, digging deeper into practical applications of God's word for our lives. Snowflakes. We're blasting off on this edition of the last podcast cause

you know, what we're contending for in our churches is we're contending for miracles, right? Yeah. We hear that in conferences is you must contend for miracles. We can't just go to church service after service preacher preaching sermons, but seeing no miracles. And this is an obvious opportunity to see God do a miracle because if you can bring someone in and preach simple messages to them, that God begins to touch them and they can get delivered. Well. Wow, that becomes an amazing, um, uh, it becomes an amazing springboard, uh, to not only see other people begin to change as well, but also to give like some credibility to your church and your ministry and, and uh, wow. So some amazing things are happening in that little meeting. Have you seen any of that happening?
Speaker 2:
1:39
Yeah, I mean all of, so we have our, our cities are all small. So most people know our church and most people know who we are. Um, but what I, what I have seen is, uh, folks from like law enforcement are, are just blown away that we have anybody who's stayed clean. Um, the, the, the people who work for, um, you know, at first I got some heat because of my views and probably your guys' views on, on the whole recovery thing. Like I don't believe it's a disease. I don't believe you're at once an addict, always an APP. So I got a little bit of pushback from some of the mental health folks and some of the, you know, the other worldly clinics and whatnot. But as we keep progressing and keep pushing forward, and, and obviously the people are staying clean and they're, they're living for God, that they're staying safe, they become the poster child that, yeah, it does work.
Speaker 2:
2:34
And I can play. And I constantly pointed them to and I say, if they can do it, anybody can do it. And obviously it works because they're doing it. And you don't have many examples of people who stay sober. And if they do, here's the, here's the kicker to, you'll get some, some people will say, well, yeah, I kicked it. Uh, you know, on my own. I didn't need religion. I didn't need God. Well, that's big, but you're still addicted in your mind. That's the, you can be, you can be, uh, uh, it's like pastor Campbell says you can be delivered quote, but Dominion Do, do you, is that all you think about, are you consumed with that thought or you always, you know, struggling? Or are you beginning to live and move forward and get your life back? And I tell him my meeting all the time, like, God, is that the life controlling problems, the addiction is really just the surface stuff that's trying to go deep. He wants to get, get some of those things out of your heart. But the, the, all of the addiction stuff, he can't go any farther than that because it's like it's consuming you.
Speaker 4:
3:33
Yeah. So I had the same problem with cigarettes, you know, I mean, when, when I got, when I got, when I got saved, I was one of the things that I was completely delivered from. And prior to being saved, I had tried for about three years to, to quit smoking. Maybe even four years to quit smoking. I had tried every, I'd tried every method, you know, every, um, you know, candy chewing gum and all, do you know that filling up other people's packs with the cigarettes I just bought and in need cold Turkey, none of it worked. And so, um, like I would go, you know, I could go weeks without smoking, but I was constantly, we, the term we had back in California where I grew up was fiending. I was constantly fiending for a cigarette. And that's what the, the, and that's exactly I think with, with these, with these addicts are going through. Yeah, maybe I, maybe I didn't need religion or whatever, but yeah, you're right there. They're constantly just always thinking about it. They're not delivered in their mind at all. All
Speaker 2:
4:35
right. And we always say that if the son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. Sure. That's our, that's our actually our motto. That's our, our scripture that we use on all, on the back of our cards, on banners, on everything. You know, that's, that's what we live by. So it's kind of cool. Now what we're doing is, um, uh, we're, we're, we're using the meeting as a, as a way of, I don't know how to explain it, but we're promoting the meeting in, in the public space because everyone in, at least in our city, most people are affected by drug addiction. Whether they do it or not. They have kids, they have brothers, they have family members. So we'll promote the meeting and the meeting will be kind of like, I don't want to call it the bait, but that's what I need to get people into an atmosphere where God can get ahold of them and then they get saved. And I've had several people, I at least two, three, four people through the meeting who now come to church regularly. So the meeting is, it is God's blessing. It, I mean, that's all I can say. God's blessing. Yeah, that's cool. But what I would love to see is, um, you know, there's going to be pastors that are hearing this, uh, and probably hopefully disciples.
Speaker 1:
5:59
Um, because the, the, what I'm thinking about is there's going to be pastors who hear this and say, wow, we need this in our church. I'm saying that to myself. Um, but I'm also thinking about how busy I already am. You know, wouldn't it be awesome if we had some disciples who would say, hey, this is something that I can do. It's one night a week. Pastor, I'm want to take this on my shoulders and I'm going to start this up with your blessing and with your guidance and leadership. And I'm going to carry this. And, uh, you know, my, my vision for this would be that somebody listening to this and say, uh, you know, if you're in a brand new or a small pioneer church, obviously a pastor is probably going to start this out, but wouldn't it be awesome to have a disciple start this? And, and once it becomes fruitful and effective, maybe someone who's been through the program can then become a leader within the program, you know, have, have you thought about that also?
Speaker 2:
6:55
That's what we're doing now. So our, our thing is 12 weeks. It's really 11 weeks. Uh, it's, it's supposed to be 12 steps, but I can bind to because they, they overlapped. But so at the end of it, what a, and what the other ones typically do, I asked them what do they normally do while they just start over? I said, okay, we'll start over. But this time, now that you've all gone through it, I want you to, to go through this meeting. And as you know, I want specific people pay attention because one day you will run this meeting. And so I've already kind of set the expectation like now you're saved, now you're born again, but now you can help others. And you could even like what I'm planning on doing is doing like a guy wanted a girl one that could, that can work too because sometimes some, you know, for now I'm not picky cause coed is all we can do. But eventually it would be really helpful to have a guy at one and a girl one simply because sometimes there can be some nonsense and stuff that goes on. So that's just, I don't know that that's, I'm just thinking out loud. But yeah, definitely a disciple could do it and it becomes a great means of discipleship and disciples making disciples.
Speaker 1:
8:06
Absolutely. Yeah. And that's essentially, you know what we're aiming for anyway, we're winning souls and then we're making disciples and this is a fantastic opportunity to see that in action.
Speaker 2:
8:18
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 1:
8:19
And you said this is like a one night a week kind of thing.
Speaker 2:
8:22
Yeah, I do it on Thursday nights. And the format is pretty simple. We, we start out with prayer. Uh, we sing a, like a song sing to Jesus, something, uh, whether video song or I play guitar or something. And then we have a testimony either, uh, someone calls in with a, with a, uh, like a facetime or whatever, or a recorded testimony of someone who's got delivered and you just type in, yeah, it reinforces your, your entire, uh, our entire, uh, system of beliefs is that you can be delivered and you just type in deliverance from drugs on Youtube. Hundreds, hundreds, and, uh, just download those. And I play those. And so, I mean, I had people coming in when I first started and they were like, Pastor Ryan, you're still, you're still addicted. They were like, they were like, you're always going to be an addict.
Speaker 2:
9:13
And I was like, you know, cause I struggle with alcohol and whatever. I said, no, I've been free for 11 years. I'm never gone back. I'm not, um, it's not happening. But they ha they come. What I mean is they come in with that mindset with the ideology. Yeah. And so you have to wean them off of that stuff and, and slowly but surely they'll get it and then they start repeating things and then they, it's like things start catching and, oh, it's so, it's so awesome, man. So have, have you, uh, have you seen people, um, uh, not, not only go through the program, but also get saved? Like is there a spiritual transformation that's happening at the same time? Yeah. Oh yes. Yes. That's, we the, everything about this is salvation. Everything. Yeah. The end of the end of every meeting I pull an altar call.
Speaker 2:
10:01
Uh, and, and I, you know, I, I pull it hard. I, I talk about getting saved and the whole entire Bible study or, or sermons are all directed at salvation, every, every one of them. And so the, the whole idea is that they'll get saved and really get it, really get converted. Uh, because if they don't get, I'm not just talking about getting religious or, or praying the prayer, we can all get people to pray the prayer, but I'm talking total life transformation. Um, and so that's um, that's very much part of it. And yes, they've gotten saved. They come to church. Uh, there many of them come. Uh, we have one, three people who come like every service, they come like four times a week. Um, and then one, one guy, another guy, he, uh, he comes maybe twice a week and then another guy, uh, he comes maybe once or twice a week, but his sister makes him go to the meeting. [inaudible] made him go to the meeting cause he had an alcohol problem. Right. And then, uh, then he just got saved. Totally hasn't drank since then, I guess it's been since. It would have been march, early March. And so, yeah, I mean we're still real early.
Speaker 5:
11:10
Yes. But God is, is clearly into this because God wants to save people. Absolutely loves these people. Absolutely.
Speaker 6:
11:21
Okay. Dot. Okay. It's not gonna end this way. Today is the day a change? It's the time. Is that, are those, your rock is ready to come that design the time. Oh, not the big. Is that trust to you to I know where my help for my help comes from. It's going to get better.
Speaker 7:
12:01
It's going to get, it's going to show you that [inaudible].
Speaker 6:
12:24
No, not on past.
Speaker 7:
12:29
Okay.

This week from the Babylon Bee, Mo Locke says he may rethink presence in Georgia if anti abortion bill goes into effect Atlanta, Georgia in further backlash against Georges heartbeat bill, which bans abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, the Canaanite God Moloch says he will reconsider his presence in Georgia. If the bill goes into effect quote, he feels like he's being singled out by this bill says molex spokesman from underneath eight dark cloak quote, women's health is very important to him, especially the child consuming part of it. This podcast is disciple tested and pastor approved. Welcome back to the blast podcast.
Speaker 1:
14:05
Yeah, it's funny story. Um, I was here, uh, in the church for a prayer meeting, uh, early in the morning, a few weeks ago. And, um, so one of the projects that I've been working on little by little is that we have as every fellowship church ought to, ought to have a map in the back of the church. So I was, uh, but the problem is that we put the map up, you know, four years ago when we moved into this building and there's been a lot of updates that, uh, that needed to be made. So I was kind of going through and putting pins in the map where we didn't have them and updating and you know, so, um, so I found a pin or a location, a church location in a place that was very surprising to, it's a little city on the northern coast of Russia called Murmansk.
Speaker 1:
14:58
And you know, I'm looking at this map and I realized that this church is the northern most church in our fellowship. And we're talking about, you know, if you draw the straight line across the map, it is like north of Alaska, you know, it's way up there. So I said, I got to find out about this place. That's my natural curiosity. So of course there is a, a, a contact number there. And so I reached out through text message and I didn't even know who this was, but I send a little text message and said, Hey, I'm Adam, uh, from Virginia Beach Church and I just saw that you're in our fellowship and you're on the map. And I just wanted to say hello. And, and so to my surprise, this guy, uh, responds to me. And so it turns out that this guy, this pastor is a graduate, the reason that he came into the church in Vlog was because of a recovery program.
Speaker 1:
15:54
He was a drug addict. He was a totally messed up for a bunch of years of his life. And, uh, and he got radically saved. He got married to his girlfriend and you know, and here they are five years down the road after they got saved and he's pioneering in this amazing church. And while I'm talking to him, he's, he's sending me pictures of their outreach and this was, this was what, this was like two months ago that I reached out to him. So it was still, it was cold here in Virginia Beach, but uh, but there, there was relative, there was like three feet of snow on the ground. And, uh, so he sending me these pictures of their outreach to their street outreach. He's rapping on the street and it's ice everywhere and snow. And there's all of these, uh, not just him, but his wife and all of the people in his church and their wives, they've got their children and strollers outside.
Speaker 1:
16:47
And I'm thinking, I'm thinking, Oh, you know, we couldn't cut it. You know, we are so spoiled. But it was amazing because he, he gave me this testimony that he got, he got saved in the, in their drug rehab program and now he's pastoring and he's leading this group of people on outreach. And it was just really awesome to see that and that, that's kind of what got my mind rolling on. Wow. I wonder if we could start doing sides and, uh, I've also heard whispers that the PR press get churches now involved in that. And uh, wow. What's, what's an amazing thing that God can use? And really, when it comes down to it, this is down to the vision of our fellowship. It's winning souls is making disciples, which leads to planting churches. And we see, I saw it in action in this guy in Murmansk, Russia.
Speaker 1:
17:31
And, uh, you know, if God can do a miracle like that, um, you know, I think that it's a great idea for us to start in our church. And so I'm definitely going to take steps to move forward in that and we hope that hopefully there's somebody listening that, um, that would also be inspired to do that as well. And one day we'll hear a testimony from a blast podcast listeners. I heard Pastor Ron virtue and I was so inspired and now, yeah, and if there is a testimony like that, please we want to hear about it or maybe if you are one of those drug addicts who's being saved and radically changed, um, we can use your testimony in, in some of these meetings. So that would be a great way to reach out to us. Um, there was a way to send us an email or there's a way to leave us a voicemail. All that is in our links on our show notes. And so, um, pastor Bester, Bertsch, did you have any other final words that you'd like to leave with the audience tonight?
Speaker 2:
18:23
What I would say to anybody is, if you're, if you're thinking about getting into this cotton ministry, uh, just go in with a big heart. That's what I would say. I mean, you're going to hear things, crazy stories, heartbreaking things, and you have to be willing to really, really show these folks the love of God. I mean, you have to have a real, you have to really open your heart to them because they've, they have no family. They have no friends, they have nobody who really, really loves them except for you. And that's, that's gonna be it. And their gut and through you, they're going to experience the life transformation and the love of God that will totally change their life. And the Bible says, to whom, uh, has been given much is he who loves much. And that's, that's been something I've seen and I hope, I hope to see everyone listening to this, uh, gets to see and experience that same thing. Hmm.
Speaker 1:
19:26
Great. Hey Man. Yeah, that's awesome. Um, well we want to go ahead and close out this interview. We want to say thank you again, pastor Birch for joining us and for encouraging our audience to, to start some kind of a drug rehab. A recovery program would be a great blessing and I believe would see a great things happen. So why don't we go ahead and close in prayer. Pastor, uh, would you, would you close us out tonight?
Speaker 2:
19:51
Yeah. Father, I thank you sir. Pastor Adam and Dave, I thank you for their heart and their willingness to talk to me tonight. I pray for everyone listening to this God that they'd be encouraged, uh, that their eyes would be open to the needs of our cities and whatever nation, whatever city they're in, we're asking God for your grace and your mercy, uh, on these souls. These precious people got bring people to deliverance and redemption in Jesus name. Amen.
Speaker 1:
20:24
Amen. Hey, thanks so much for being with us and we will talk again soon.
Speaker 2:
20:27
All right, thank you. Alright. Have a good night, man. God bless you. All right. God bless you.
Speaker 1:
20:34
We want to go ahead and close out this episode 45 and give you some awesome information that you can use. You can take this information that we've heard from pastor birch and put it to use right away. So first of all, Dave, uh, what were your from, uh, from pastor Burk?
Speaker 4:
20:50
You know, he, um, I've known him a very long time and, uh, he was just a, a disciple in the Indianapolis churches. He mentioned sort of in his testimony and what a heart for people. I mean, I've almost, I dare say I've never seen anybody with a bigger heart for, for souls than, than a pastor birch and his wife and, um, his wife April. And they, uh, it almost wasn't surprising to me at all that he started talking about, you know, I would go down to these drug, these frat houses and um, or trap houses. I mean, and um, and, and Tara talked to drug addicts at 10 o'clock at night, you know, cause that's when all the businesses going down. And I'm like, yeah, this is something he would do that. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Yeah. That's something he would do. So, um, but, but gosh, so encouraging just to, you know, um, just to see what he's done here, what he's done, um, what they've, what they've been able to do of course with, with God's help and you know, um, that they've stuck it out and, and they're seeing a real change in these, in these addicts being being a saved and delivered.
Speaker 4:
22:01
That's, that's what it's all about.
Speaker 1:
22:02
Absolutely. What I love about it too is that they're not settling for the, you know, the line of the day that once an addict always an addict. Oh yeah. But that's true. True deliverance. Like we see in the gospel accounts. We see people getting set free from sin and that we can still see that today. We contend for that in our churches and what a great avenue, what a great ministry to start up. But we hope to, to see this happen all across our fellowship and we would love to hear the stories of that, uh, when it does happen.
Speaker 4:
22:30
Yeah. And if you've already got a story like that, please drop us a line shared with us because, you know, I'm so glad he brought that up. You know, the world says, oh, once an addict, always an addict, even, even, uh, I believe Aa when, when, uh, they have their meetings, even if somebody has been sober for years, they, they begin their introduction with my name is so and so, and I'm an alcoholic. Right. But, but if you've been delivered, if you're in for, you know, 20 years, why are you still calling yourself an alcoholic? Exactly. So, um, and I'm glad that he mentioned that did, it's not just about, you know, saying the prayer and it's also not just about them stopping their addiction. This is about salvation and part of salvation, his deliverance. So, so I'm, I'm so glad he mentioned all of that. It was so, it was just a great, great conversation in what a fantastic work he's doing out there.
Speaker 1:
23:24
Yeah. And he has been very generous to offer to us that he is going to share some, um, material that we can then share with you, our listening audience. So if you've heard something that you want to get started in your church, then we're going to give you that opportunity tonight. And uh, uh, we want to let you know what we're prepared to help you with. Yup. And we're also gonna provide the first of those 11 sermon outlines that he mentioned that he made. And, uh, if that is something that you feel is helpful to you, then we're going to make the rest of those 11, that the 10 out of the 11.
Speaker 1:
24:20
